South Eastern Franchise
The Department for Transport has published its Invitation to Tender for the new South Eastern rail franchise, covering services on HS1, the London Metro network, all Kent routes, and the Tunbridge Wells to Hastings line in East Sussex. Further information, including the services all bidders are required to provide, can be found
Govia, the longest-standing partnership in UK rail, involving the Go-Ahead Group (65%) and Keolis (35%), has operated Southeastern since 2006 and is on the shortlist for the new franchise. During our tenure, Southeastern passenger numbers have grown by 40% and some 500 additional weekly services have been added. Southeastern successfully introduced the UK’s first domestic high speed service, significantly reducing journey times to London and supporting the economic regeneration of the region. The company also played a key role in the success of London 2012, carrying 20% more passengers than usual.
In July this year the company had the highest ever year on year increase in National Rail Passenger Survey score, reaching 81% passenger satisfaction. Southeastern’s partnership with Network Rail is closer and better than ever, contributing to improved performance in recent months.
We are excited about meeting the challenges of continued growth in the new franchise, which is expected to begin in April 2019. If you have any views on things you would like to see in the new franchise please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
